    The Benefit Counselor is responsible for maintaining a high level of client satisfaction through their knowledge and expertise in the management of insurance benefits including COBRA, FSA, HRA and HSA’s.


    • Coordinates with the Client Account Managers regarding client benefits that include open enrollments, renewals, changes, and terminations for all benefit products
    • Answers inquiries via phone or email to assist in enrollment
    • Provides a consultative experience and communicates accurate answers regarding products
    • Handles inquiries by communicating in a clear, concise, and confident manner to provide an excellent customer-service experience
    • Works with internal business partners to achieve team goals and results for clients
    • Responds to external client employee questions regarding benefits and claims
    • Provides Benefit Administration support to Broker Only clients
    • Manages the Benefit Support email box and provides timely response to inquiries
    • Prepares Open enrollment timelines, Open enrollment memos and PowerPoints
    • Creates and maintains Benefit FAQ email templates
    • Maintains regular and punctual attendance
    • Develops relationships with outside benefit vendors
    • Prepares topics for client advisories relating to all ancillary benefits and coordinates with the Marketing team
    • Maintains a good working relationship with insurance carriers and other outside representatives
    • Develops excellent communications with internal team and provides assistance with plan administration
    • Maintains awareness of market conditions, changes, and current legislation
    • Acts as a subject-matter-expert to other Client Services team members on benefit topics
    • Continues to educate oneself on areas of compliance in benefits as the opportunity arises
    • Work on special projects as needed


    • High School Diploma required; College degree preferred
    • Equivalent relevant experience
    • At least 2 years of previous Benefit experience
    • Experience with ADP Workforce Now, and HRB is highly preferred, but not required
    • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, PowerPoint and Word
    • Excellent organizational skills, a keen attention to detail, and strong administrative and analytical skills
    • Reliable with a high degree of confidentiality and integrity
    • Thrives in a fast-paced environment and can adapt at prioritizing responsibilities and tasks to effectively meet deadlines
    • Personable, a good listener, and can effectively communicate with all staff and client types through both written and verbal means
    • Works efficiently, both independently and as a member of a larger team
    • Willing and flexible to help with any urgent issues that happen to arise at the company, even if they are outside the immediate scope of the role
