    KEA Technologies, Inc. (KEA), established in 2015, is an engineering research and development small business located in Marlborough, Massachusetts that provides engineering solutions to the transportation industry.  KEA staff has performed transportation R&D work for the past 25 years in the railroad and automotive arena.  KEA is made up of a wide range of world-renowned and experienced engineering consultants with expertise in various transportation safety fields. KEA’s areas of expertise include advanced automotive and railroad technologies, mechanical design, human factors, and various applications of behavioral, cognitive, and experimental psychology and psychophysiology.


    KEA Technologies, Inc. is currently seeking a high caliber Driver with Technical skills. The qualified applicant will become a member of multi-disciplinary team including engineering professionals and subject-matter experts. The Driver/Technician will primarily support the testing of an innovative alcohol detection device being developed for vehicles as well as supply technical and mechanical expertise to the vehicle shop and/or laboratory.  Support may include work on a variety of projects and Research and Development efforts.


    • Is responsible for the safe transportation of passengers, including test subjects and execution of the daily test plan using alcohol detection devices in vehicles.
    • Maintains a daily route and drive schedule in a timely manner.
    • Instructs study participants on the use and care of devices as well as the process and procedures for testing. Must maintain a high level of product knowledge.
    • Completes reports and summaries of work. Ensures that all paperwork/data entry relevant to the position is thoroughly completed without errors.
    • Assists staff and initiates continuous improvement.
    • Follows established company and OSHA safety protocols.
    • Assists in maintaining the assigned company vehicle(s) in clean, serviced, and drive-ready condition. Performs pre-drive and post-drive inspections.
    • Assists technicians with equipment repairs and assembly.
    • Implements evaluation procedures for the testing of concepts and samples produced by the engineering/science team.
    • Troubleshoots equipment and fixtures in the shop and in the field where required.
    • Contributes to system architecture development, identifying design and production methods for the rapid and efficient development of new design concepts.
    • Follows written instructions or takes direction from others to assist in the fabrication, installation and testing of complex prototypes, equipment, and samples in the shop and in the field.
    • Conducts experiments in accordance with documented protocols.


    • High school degree or equivalent required and at least 4 years of applicable experience or equivalent military service in a technical rating.
    • Current driver’s license with a “Clean” RMV/DMV driving record which includes but is no major offenses, or no serious offenses within the past 10 years, and no moving violations within the past 3 years.
    • Pass a criminal background check with no convictions involving violent offenses, or no felony or misdemeanor convictions in the past 5 yrs.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Possess excellent troubleshooting skills to efficiently identify and resolve issues.
    • Candidate should be well organized, detail oriented, and able to work on multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • This position requires strong interpersonal skills and a desire to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment advancing the technology and creating highly innovative devices.
    • Periodic over-night travel may be required.
    • Desirable, not mandatory: Drivers First Aid training (e.g., as received from EMS, Education/school system, commercial vehicle company, etc.).
    • Desirable, not mandatory: Familiarity with the automobile, rail, and defense industries.
    • Desirable, not mandatory: Operates highly technical experimental apparatus.
    • Technical working knowledge of computers and MS Office suite of software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).
    • Desirable, not mandatory: technical knowledge of electrical, electronic, mechanical, hydraulic, and audio-visual equipment.
    • Desirable, not mandatory: Machine shop skills (mill, lathe, grind).
