    Mystic Valley Regional Charter School is currently seeking a Human Resources Manager to join their leadership team. Under the supervision of the Director of Finance & Operations and in cooperation with other senior administrators, the Human Resources Manager is responsible for all personnel matters, including but not limited to: recruitment, contracting, payroll, employee benefits management, and overseeing the maintenance of the personnel database and personnel files. The ideal candidate will not only manage all day-to-day HR functions and help to preserve the school’s professional reputation but also contribute to long-term strategic planning.



    • Works in concert with Superintendent/Director, Assistant Superintendent, and Assistant Directors to manage position openings and recruit new faculty and staff as openings become available
    • Coordinates a consistent hiring process including screening, background check processes, and maintenance of application materials
    • Establishes and maintains key strategic relationships with contacts at select colleges by attending recruiting/job fairs and utilizing search firms such as SchoolSpring and Nemnet 

    Employee Relations:

    • Oversight of employee relations’ activities
    • Work to maintain the school’s high standard of conduct and professionalism in all areas
    • Develop and maintain a system of personnel records for all school employees
    • Develop and maintain the school employee handbook, personnel procedures, and school employee job descriptions
    • Develop and conduct training for the professional development of the staff employees in federal, state and local statues, policies and by-laws related to human resources issues
    • Provide onboarding support such as processing fingerprinting/CORIs, new-hire paperwork, and conducting facility tours
    • Provide guidance and support to staff on employment issues
    • Conduct exit interviews with departing employees and provides information to Superintendent/Director to help improve the operation, organization, and culture of the individual department, administrative policies, and the School as a whole

    Laws and Regulatory Requirements:

    • Stay abreast of all federal, state and DESE laws and regulations that affect the school. This may at times involve conversations with school attorneys and/or other outside HR experts
    • Maintain and disposes of departmental records in accordance with Massachusetts Public Records Laws
    • Coordinate state compliance with teacher and administrator licensure/credentials, re-licensure and waiver requests
    • Work in conjunction with school attorneys to manage compliance issues
    • Attend training, seminars and courses to keep up to date in the personnel and human resources field. Maintain active membership and participation in professional associations

    HR Benefits:

    • Administer, manage, and update the approved employee/retiree compensation and benefits packages both corporately and individually
    • Conduct benefit reviews, monitor sick-leave bank, and certify individual employment
    • Work closely with payroll and healthcare representatives to ensure accuracy

    Payroll Support:

    • Track staff attendance relevant to employees’ allotted time (dock-pay, send out letters notifying employees they are out of time)
    • Monitor and track Requests for Leave for approval of signed form and return them to employees
    • Oversight and maintenance of the personnel database and personnel files


    • Bachelor’s degree in business or human resources related field, Master’s degree preferred
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in personnel or human resources administration
    • 2+ years of supervisory experience
    • Strong computer skills and an ability to learn new technology quickly and easily, knowledge of Asana and ADP preferred
    • Working knowledge of human resources principles, practices, and methods as applicable to a public school
    • Thorough knowledge of all applicable federal and state statutes, and regulations affecting human resource activities
    • Ability to administer and interpret regulations, policies and procedures firmly, tactfully, and impartially, while maintaining flexibility to reach consensus
    • Exhibits a high degree of confidentiality and integrity
    • Personable, a good listener, and able to effectively communicate with all staff and client types through both verbal and written means
