Nucleus Scientific Inc., is developing an exciting suite of technologies that will fundamentally change the way energy is stored, transferred and utilized in transportation and other industries throughout the world.

     

    Nucleus Scientific is seeking an experienced, dedicated, hands-on technician to assist in the daily electrical assembly tasks, electronic assembly testing and circuit troubleshooting that is required to help achieve goals in wide range of projects. The technician will work with mechanical and electrical engineers throughout all project stages.

    Responsibilities

    • Hands on experience on prototype building, testing, and evaluation of electrical/mechanical subsystems
    • Create and revise system level harness; candidate must be able to identify harness requirements according to system level and/or PCB level requirements and select the proper tools and procedures accordingly
    • Take a leadership role within the team providing guidance and mentorship to junior technicians
    • Take lead on cable routing within equipment, including: identifying general system function and operating condition and identifying the necessary setup to make the system run successfully and safely
    • Assemble battery packs with resistance welding
    • Assemble printed circuit boards in prototype quantities using a hand solder and reflow process
    • Testing, diagnosing, and modifying printed circuit boards, revising circuit design as needed   
    • Electromechanical test stand assembly, setup, and troubleshooting.
    • Maintaining a clean and safe working environment
    • Ability to travel (< 1 hour drive) on short notice
    • Operate in a fast paced, ever changing work environment with little supervision
    • Must be able to lift over 50lbs

    Qualifications

    • At least five years of experience as a senior electrical technician or other relevant leadership role
    • Degree in a related field from an accredited college or university preferred; certifications and/or extensive experience acceptable as a substitute
    • Able to take lead on system level solutions for power electronics including trouble shooting and evaluation
    • Able to make technical judgements on proper system or circuit-level setup and revise designs accordingly
    • Experience with basic hand and power tools
    • Experience with cabling, connector crimp tools
    • Soldering and circuit board assembly
    • Able to assemble equipment from drawings, specifications and schematics
    • Well trained in electrical safety protocol, comfortable working with high voltage
    • Strong team leadership skills; comfortable providing guidance to junior technicians Familiarity with National Electrical Code
    • Knowledge of Basic Electrical Theory
    • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Computer literacy and writing skills to aid in producing accurate documentation
    • Ability to learn new process in a short period of time
    • Ability to multitask while remaining efficient and accurate
    • Self-motivated to work individually and takes good direction
