Finn Dixon & Herling is looking to add an intelligent and motivated Legal Secretary to their growing team. This is an ideal position for candidates looking to start a career in the legal field. The Legal Secretary provides administrative support to attorneys, paralegals and assistants. A qualified candidate will have strong computer skills, especially in MS Word and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment, remaining respectful and courteous at all times.


  • Supporting a select group of attorneys with daily administrative functions, including overseeing incoming calls 
  • Manage designated staff calendars using Outlook; schedule and coordinate meetings, events and conference calls
  • Coordinate domestic and international travel; planning itinerary and logistics
  • Provide meeting support; prepare agenda, develop professional presentations and proactively gather supporting documentation 
  • Preparing and processing expense reports with supporting documentation
  • Compose and edit memos, letters or other documents; ensuring they are formatted using firm guidelines and professionally prepared
  • Handle highly confidential, sensitive and/or critical information, files, records and reports
  • Coordinate and manage personal workflow to ensure correct output of documents and assignments as instructed 


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university preferred
  • At least 2 years of administrative experience
  • Proficient in all aspects of MS Word and familiar with applying styles and formatting
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel; capable of creating and editing presentations, tables, charts and mail merge material as required
  • Ability to type 70 WPM, with exceptional attention to details
  • Excellent grammar and proofreading skills
  • Strong organizational skills 
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and take pride in producing high quality work 
  • Able to work in a fast pace, sometimes demanding environment and remain courteous and professional at all times
  • Have and maintain the essential interpersonal skills necessary in order to appropriately and effectively communicate with a diverse group of employees in a courteous, supportive manner.
  • Effective team player who exhibits flexibility and reliability; treats others in a respectful, positive and supportive manner, shows commitment to the team
  • Listens attentively, shares information, knowledge and experience openly and willingly
  • Willingness to pitch in and assist where needed
